The Flying Cocaine Addict
The night before the twin towers incident I had this dream:
I was on the roof of a skyscraper. There was a young man there. He was crazy. He was wanting to jump, affirming he would be able to fly, all the way to the next skyscraper. I tryed to stop him, but his determination was too strong, and he jumped.
I saw him flying, adopted the form of a plane, silhouetted against the deep sky, while I was, now, on the ground, having a coffe, seating on a street table, face to face with my psychologist. Until he, finally, crashed into a balcony from the adjacent skyscraper. The kid died.
EasterRemember what you love,
you with sand in your teeth
and the feral burn of hunger
in your eyes.
God sends his regrets.
He made you grasping and slow,
in a late hour
when the wine washed low.
Remember what you love.
Fall to your knees in the toss
and the swell, quell
the appetite of the cold black sea.
Beg blessings for your home
and the salt-sick trees.
Reach what lies near:
the fat-faced child, the sweet-soft lamb;
tether the tantrum, trickle the blood.
Offer psalms to what is holy,
whisper the name of what you love
as it bobs in the bleak mad sea.
